Noida: Ahead of
Bakrid celebrations and proposed workers’ protests, the police commissionerate on Wednesday imposed temporary restrictions under Section 163 (banning gatherings of five or more) of the BNSS to maintain law and order.
The restrictions will remain in force across the district till Saturday, said an officer, adding that preventive measures had to be introduced in view of possible disturbances during Eid-al-Adha celebrations and planned demonstrations by various organisations.
The officer said that any public assembly, protest or demonstration during the period will require approval from the administration.
Public prayers, namaz gatherings, religious programmes and processions on roads or in public spaces have also been prohibited without official permission. The administration clarified that religious activities would not be allowed at disputed sites where such events were not traditionally organised earlier.
The police have also imposed restrictions on drone operations and aerial photography near sensitive locations. Flying drones or carrying out aerial videography within a one-kilometre radius of govt offices has been prohibited unless prior permission is obtained from the police commissioner or authorised senior officers.
The order further places limits on the use of loudspeakers and public address systems. Authorities said loudspeakers will not be permitted between 10pm and 6am in accordance with court directives and noise pollution norms. Sound levels in residential, commercial and industrial areas must also remain within prescribed limits.
In addition, carrying weapons, sharp objects, inflammable materials and licensed firearms in public places has been banned during the restriction period, except for security personnel and exempted individuals.
The administration has also prohibited celebratory firing during weddings and other events. Officials warned against spreading rumours, fake videos, objectionable social media posts or inflammatory messages that could disturb communal harmony.
Police said strict legal action would be taken against anyone found violating the order.
