Nashik: The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) will soon start road repair works in the Ambad and Satpur industrial estates of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), falling within the limits of the civic body.
The standing committee of the NMC recently approved the civic administration's proposal to award work orders for two separate road improvement projects at an estimated cost of Rs10 crore.
A civic official, while talking to TOI, said work orders will be issued to the contractors concerned within a week following which the road improvement works are likely to commence by the end of April.
One of the proposals include asphalting of roads in ward No. 11 of the municipal corporation, which covers the Satpur industrial estate. This project is estimated to cost Rs3.5 crore.
The NMC has already completed the tender process and finalised the agency. Accordingly, the civic administration tabled the proposal for issuing the work order to the contractor for the asphalting works, which was later approved by the standing committee.
"Most roads in the Satpur MIDC area have not been re-laid for the past 10 to 15 years.
Their condition has deteriorated due to repeated digging by various agencies for utility-related works. There has also been a persistent demand from industrialists for relaying of roads. As a result, selected roads in the Satpur MIDC area will be asphalted," the official said.
Meanwhile, the public works department has planned concreting of roads in the areas near Fresh-up bakery. The general body of the NMC had approved the concreting works at an estimated cost of Rs7.5 crore. The NMC subsequently carried out the tender process and finalised an agency. The standing committee has now cleared the proposal to award the work order to the contractor concerned.
