Nashik: Four members of a family, including two children, were killed on the spot after a speeding SUV, allegedly driving on the wrong side, rammed their motorcycle near Varangaon in Jalgaon district on Friday afternoon, the police said.Jalgaon superintendent of police Shrikant Dhivare said, “We have arrested the SUV driver and registered a suo motu case against him. The SUV driver has been booked under section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which refers to ‘culpable homicide not amounting to murder.’ The quantum of punishment under this section is up to 10 years of imprisonment along with a fine.”The deceased have been identified as Jai Shankar Kale (19), his sister, Aishwarya Bhosle (30), nephew Vighnesh Chavan (14), and one-year-old niece, Monalisa Bhosle. All four were declared dead on arrival at the Jalgaon district govt hospital after being taken there by relatives.According to the police, the crash occurred on the Varangaon-Muktainagar road when the SUV, coming from the opposite direction, veered onto the wrong lane and struck the motorcycle head-on.Assistant inspector Amitkumar Bagul, of the Varangaon police station, said, “The four family members, originally from Malkapur in Buldhana district, had come to Varangaon two to three months ago for work. On Friday afternoon, they were traveling together when the SUV, being driven on the wrong side, knocked them down.”Eyewitnesses said the impact was severe, leaving the victims critically injured at the scene. Local residents immediately alerted the families and helped transport the victims to the hospital.
