Madikeri: In addition to mother tongue, the student community should try to learn other languages, including foreign languages, said speaker UT Kader on Tuesday.Youths must learn foreign languages like Spanish, German, Japanese, besides becoming proficient in English to stay ahead in the competitive world, he said while speaking after inaugurating Beary Sammelan here. The event was organised by Karnataka Beary Academy, Kannada and culture department and Kodagu Beary's Welfare Trust.For a successful career, students should learn other languages, he said, and asked education institutions to provide an opportunity to learn multiple languages.Regarding the demand made by the Kodagu Beary community for the establishment of a community hall in Kodagu, he said with the cooperation of two MLAs, he would also get Rs 1 crore funds from the state govt.Madikeri MLA Manthar Gowda, Karnataka Beary Academy president UH Umar, noted writer SG Siddaramaiah, Kodagu Janapada Parishat president BG Ananthashayana, Kodagu Zilla Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Keshava Kamat, Kodava Sahitya Academy president Mahesh Nachaiah, Beary Sammelan president BA Shamsuddin were present.
