Mumbai: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday arrested a junior clerk attached to the Regional Transport Department (RTO), Borivli, for allegedly accepting a bribe to reduce a penalty imposed on a bus owner.According to the ACB, the accused, Mithun Vilas Ade, had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs. 5,000 from the complainant for reducing a fine of Rs. 26,500 imposed on the complainant’s bus . The complainant, unwilling to pay the bribe, approached the ACB and lodged a complaint on June 1. During verification, ACB officials allegedly confirmed that the accused had demanded Rs 5,000 and later agreed to accept Rs. 4,000 after negotiations.Subsequently, the ACB laid a trap, during which Ade was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount of Rs 4,000 from the complainant. Following the arrest, the ACB has registered and booked Aade under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
