22yo found dead inside school bus; kin allege prior threats

Meerut: The body of a 22-year-old man was found inside a parked school bus in a garage in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district on Wednesday, triggering protests by family members who alleged that police had been informed about threats to his life two days earlier.Reenu Kumar, a daily-wage labourer, was found inside a bus parked at a garage in Sisana village under Baghpat Kotwali police station limits. Police reached the spot after receiving information and sent the body for postmortem examination.Family members alleged that three to four villagers were involved in the murder. They claimed Reenu had received threats from a local resident a few days earlier and that the police had been informed about the matter before his death.The relatives accused the same person and his associates of carrying out the killing. Tension prevailed outside the postmortem house, where family members staged a protest demanding immediate arrests.Police officials said injury marks were found on the victim’s body, and CCTV footage from nearby areas was being examined as part of the investigation.Circle officer Vijay Chaudhary met the family members and assured them that strict action would be taken against those found responsible. Following the assurance, the protest was called off. “The exact cause of death will be established only after the postmortem report is received. A thorough investigation is underway and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings,” he said.
