Cop held for alleged misconduct with minor girl

A police constable was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly misbehaving with a 14-year-old girl in Tenkasi district. Police identified the accused as Vijayakumar, a native of Idaiyankulam near Sivagiri, who is serving in the Avadi Battalion in Chennai. According to police sources, he allegedly misbehaved with the girl while visiting his native village for a temple festival. Based on a complaint lodged by the girl’s parents, the Puliyangudi All Women Police registered a case and arrested him. Further investigation is underway.Two painters killed in Dindigul road accidentTwo young painters were killed after the two-wheeler they were travelling on crashed near Oddanchatram on Wednesday night. The deceased were identified as Periyasamy, 19, of Pallapatti near Nilakottai and Chinnakalai, 20, of Agaram near Thadikombu. Police said the duo were returning home after work when their two-wheeler hit a milestone and an electricity pole on the Thoppampatti-Kallimandayam Road. Both died on the spot. Kallimandayam police registered a case and are investigating the accident.
