Zero tolerance on crime non-negotiable: Yogi
Gorakhpur: Reiterating his govt’s uncompromising stance on law and order, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said that the state’s zero tolerance policy against crime and criminals will continue without exception. The CM warned that those depriving the poor of their rights, intimidating traders, or threatening the dignity of women would face strict action. After inaugurating eastern Uttar Pradesh’s first flatted factory complex at the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA), Yogi said, “Security is the foundation for development and industrial growth. Without security, neither good governance nor prosperity is possible.”“Since 2017, the govt has moved forward with a policy of zero tolerance against crime and criminals. There can be no compromise with this policy. Those who do not understand the language of law will be dealt with in the language they understand,” he said. The CM inaugurated the Rs 42.5-crore flatted factory complex and an EWS-LIG housing project for industrial workers. He also launched and laid foundation stones for 71 development projects worth nearly Rs 208 crore in GIDA.
Highlighting the state’s industrial progress, Yogi said the improved law-and-order situation helped Uttar Pradesh attract investment proposals worth Rs 50 lakh crore, of which projects worth Rs 15 lakh crore have already been implemented on the ground. He added that MSME promotion had generated employment opportunities for nearly three crore people across the state.Yogi also noted that more than nine lakh govt jobs had been provided since 2017 through transparent recruitment process. He credited the state’s industrial growth to a stable and secure environment.“Youths from every district of Uttar Pradesh have secured govt employment. Adequate opportunities for recruitment to govt jobs have been made available across the state,” he said. The CM said that outstanding achievements in development, industry and employment were possible only when a good govt was in place. “A good govt is formed when the public elects capable representatives,” he added.“When the people elected Narendra Modi as Prime Minister in 2014, the world’s perception of India changed under his leadership. In New India, development is progressing alongside the preservation of heritage. Responding to Prime Minister Modi’s call, the people of Uttar Pradesh elected a BJP govt in 2017, which worked beyond public expectations,” Yogi said.Calling flatted factory complex a “plug-and-play” model for MSMEs, Yogi said entrepreneurs lacking resources to purchase land and establish factories could begin operations immediately with minimal investment.Yogi inaugurated the LIG and EWS residential complex constructed for workers employed in various units of GIDA.Later, the CM inspected other newly inaugurated facilities and planted saplings on the premises.
