Lucknow: A 26-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his 22-year-old nephew in Itaunja, police said.
The accused was arrested on Wednesday by a joint team of the surveillance unit (DCP North) and Itaunja police. Police also recovered the plastic strap allegedly used in the murder.
The youth, a resident of Madiyaon, was found dead in a field in Akbarpur village under Itaunja police station limits, after which an FIR was lodged by his father.
“During questioning, the accused allegedly informed the police that the youth was related to him and frequently visited his house. He claimed that the youth was making advances towards his sister and did not mend his ways despite warning,” said DCP North Gopal Krishna Choudhary.
According to police, the accused hatched a plan to eliminate the youth and called him to Akbarpur village on June 1. He allegedly made the youth consume alcohol and later strangled him with a plastic packing strap.
The accused has been sent to judicial custody.
