Lucknow: Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Wednesday, in a development that attained much significance amid the party’s ongoing organisational and electoral preparations ahead of the 2027 UP Assembly elections.Maurya described his meeting with PM as a “courtesy visit” to seek the guidance of “our illustrious Prime Minister”. “He is the driving force behind the goal of a `Developed India’ and a steadfast messenger of Lord Buddha’s message of peace to the world,” Maurya posted on social media platform X.The deputy CM said that he extended his greetings to the PM on the historic and unprecedented victory of the BJP in West Bengal and Assam.“Under your (PM Modi’s) able leadership, the nation is continuously setting new benchmarks in development, good governance and public welfare,” Keshav said, adding that PM Modi’s presence and counsel always served as an inspiration to pursue initiatives for the public and national interest with even greater dedication and commitment.Maurya said that he discussed poll strategies with Shah, including the formation of a BJP govt in Uttar Pradesh for the third time in 2027.Although BJP leaders routinely characterise such meetings as organisational or courtesy interactions, Maurya’s visit comes at a politically sensitive juncture. The BJP is expected to effect a major organisational rejig in Uttar Pradesh in the coming days, including appointments to key party positions and a reassessment of electoral strategies aimed at retaining power for a third consecutive term in the state.
