Kolhapur couple dies after their car collides with parked tractor trailer

Kolhapur: A couple from Kolhapur's Kasba Bawda area died on-the-spot after their car hit a tractor trailer that was parked along the road.The accident took place around 7.30 am on Tuesday and the deceased have been identified as Santosh Gaikwad (45) and his wife Vandana (43). They were heading to Solapur for some religious activity.The accident occurred near Shirdhon village on the Kolhapur-Solapur National Highway. The police rushed the couple to Miraj Civil Hospital where the doctors declared them brought dead.A case has been registered and police are investigating what led to the accident. The highway witnesses several accidents mainly due to vehicles being driven at high speed.
