Kochi: Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (Kufos) is organising a three-day ‘Blue India 2026: International Conference and Expo on Blue Economy,’ at Kufos from Thursday. Nearly 500 delegates from different parts of the world will participate in the conference out of which more than 100 will make their scientific presentations. Key officials from the department of fisheries will also attend the function.
Blue India 2026 is envisioned on hybrid mode as a premier global forum for collaboration on ocean governance, maritime security and sustainable development, with a focus on strengthening aquaculture and fisheries for future food security.
The conference will discuss the integration of ocean resources into national accounting frameworks, sustainable coastal development and tourism and the advancement of fisheries, aquaculture, and value-added fish processing. Delegates will also examine emerging marine industries, maritime trade and infrastructure, technological innovations and the governance of deep-sea mining and offshore energy. In addition, sessions will explore maritime security, strategic dimensions and international collaboration to ensure safe, resilient and well-managed ocean spaces.
