Police arrested the main accused, Shubham, on the basis of surveillance, the informer network and interrogation.During police interrogation, Shubham stated that Kalishankar used to keep an evil eye on women of the village, often stared at his mother and behaved indecently. According to the accused, on June 1, Kalishankar was playing obscene songs, to wich Shubham objected, leading to a dispute. The accused stated that during the dispute he also threatened to kill Kalishankar within 3-4 days, and then kept looking for the opportunity and time.Police said that on the night of June 3, the accused Shubham decided to execute the plan. At 9 pm, when Kalishankar left his house and walked towards the Shiv temple, Shubham followed him there. Taking advantage of the silence around the temple premises, Shubham attacked Kalishankar behind. Kalishankar was critically injured and ran to save his life, after which the accused struck a powerful blow with the spade on his neck, severing his windpipe. Kalishankar fell drenched in blood outside the temple and his condition worsened due to excessive bleeding.Police said the accused then hid the spade on the bank of the Ganga about 50 metres from the village and fled. According to the deceased’s wife, Kisana, when her sister-in-law Ramdulari reached the temple, she saw Kalishankar lying in a blood-soaked condition, triggering panic in the village. Police sent the injured man to Kanshiram Hospital, where doctors referred him to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital after finding his condition critical, but Kalishankar died on the way.Police said they recovered the spade at the instance of Shubham, and the role of the other named people was also being investigated.
