Cop retrieves LPG cylinder for family after man mortgages it for liquor
Kanpur: In a humane gesture, the Araul police retrieved a domestic LPG cylinder after a woman complained that her husband had mortgaged it for Rs1,200 to buy liquor, leaving the family without means to cook.According to reports, the woman told police that her husband, addicted to alcohol, had mortgaged the family’s only cooking gas cylinder, pushing her and her children towards hunger. Moved by the situation, outpost in-charge Vishal Sharma went to the villager, who had taken the cylinder, paid the said amount from his own pocket and brought it back to return it to the woman.

The emotional moment saw the woman break down in tears, while her children expressed relief after the cylinder was restored.The incident, which surfaced on social media, drew widespread praise for the police officer, with many lauding his act of kindness and calling it an example of compassionate policing.
