Four-month-old slips from cousin’s lap, dies

Indore: A four-month-old boy died on Tuesday morning after accidentally falling from lap of his six-year-old cousin at their residence in Bhil Colony area of Azad Nagar. The incident occurred around 9:30 am when the infant's parents were occupied with household chores.Family members said the infant's cousin was holding him while sitting on a bed approximately three feet high. During the interaction, the baby slipped from her grasp and fell face-first on to the floor. The girl immediately alerted the family. At the time of the incident, the mother was in the washroom and the grandmother was busy with domestic work.The family rushed the infant to Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Medical staff noted that the infant's breathing had likely ceased shortly after the impact. Following the tragedy, the family requested that no postmortem examination be conducted.The infant was the younger of two siblings. He has a four-year-old elder brother. His father works for a private company. The Azad Nagar police were informed about the accidental death and preliminary statements of the family were recorded.
