Indore: Dwarkapuri police have arrested five members of a man’s family in his murder case.
DCP Sunil Mehta said the man, Harish Shitole, a resident of Suryadev Nagar in Nath Mohalla, died on June 4 after suffering a deep stab injury that caused excessive blood loss. Initially, his mother Pushpa Shitole and some local women approached Dwarkapuri police alleging that Harish’s wife Sheetal had stabbed him.
During investigation, police found that Sheetal was present at the police station when the attack took place, forcing the family to alter their version and claim that Harish had injured himself.
Suspecting foul play, police launched a detailed investigation. During questioning and examination of technical and scientific evidence, investigators found that Sheetal had been thrown out of the house by Harish’s father Narendra and elder brother Pradyumna following an argument over her character. After being expelled from the house, Sheetal informed her husband, who asked her to lodge a complaint with police.
When Harish returned home and objected to the treatment meted out to his wife, an argument broke out between him, his father Narendra and brother Pradyumna. During the confrontation, Pradyumna allegedly attacked Harish with a knife, inflicting a severe injury on his thigh.
Police said the family then attempted to cover up the crime.
The injured man was taken to MY Hospital, where doctors were allegedly told that he had suffered injuries after falling from the first floor of the house. Harish later died during treatment due to excessive bleeding.
Investigators found that after his death, family members conspired to destroy evidence and frame Sheetal. Pradyumna’s wife Pooja allegedly cleaned bloodstains from the spot, while the weapon used in the attack was concealed. Family members also gave contradictory statements to mislead investigators.
Based on the findings, Dwarkapuri police registered a case of murder, destruction of evidence and criminal conspiracy. Five members of the family including Harish’s elder brother Pradyumna, father Narendra, mother Pushpa, sister Deeksha Chawda and sister-in-law Pooja were arrested.
Police said the case was cracked through a combination of witness statements, forensic examination and technical evidence, which established that Harish was fatally injured by his brother and that other family members actively participated in efforts to conceal the crime and implicate his wife.
Nine held for murder of 23-year-old at cafeIndore: Nine people were arrested in connection with murder of a 23-year-old man at a cafe in Indore’s Vidur Nagar area on June 4 following a dispute that began with a verbal altercation nearly two weeks ago.
During investigation, police found that the man Krish Srivastava had informed his friend Adarsh Joshi Adarsh about a quarrel with one Aniket Pal that took place on May 22. Adarsh recorded that conversation and later shared it with Aniket and others.
Investigators said the recording reignited tensions, prompting Aniket, along with his associates, to allegedly hatch a plan to eliminate Krish. On June 4, Adarsh allegedly lured Krish to a cafe. After receiving information that Krish had reached the cafe, the group arrived there and allegedly attacked him with knives.
Police used technical evidence and intelligence inputs to identify and arrest all nine accused involved in the murder.
