Belagavi: Various Kannada organisations, led by senior leader Ashok Chandaragi, have urged the govt to reconsider holding the legislature’s monsoon session in Belagavi. Citing heavy rainfall during the season, activists said conducting the session at this time would be impractical and instead demanded that it continue to be held during the winter session as per established practice. Speaking to the media, Ashok Chandaragi said that the rainy season is a difficult time in Belagavi. The city suffers severely during the rainy season. The rivers across the district are likely to flood due to rain, so officials and staff will have to put in more work during this time. The rainy season is therefore not a suitable time to hold the session. The govt should review its decision and take a final decision, he said. Mahadev Talwar, the president of Kittur Karnataka Sene, said that the govt's decision to hold the session during the rainy season is not correct. Those who come to convey their petitions to the govt and those who come for various works, including the preparation of the session, will face inconvenience.
