Dharwad: Farmers from across the district raised a host of concerns, including delays in procurement of crops such as Bengal gram, maize and sunflower, the need to start sugar factories, submission of proposals for crop procurement, irregular power supply for irrigation, and inadequate availability of seeds and fertilizers, during a meeting convened by DC Snehal R. The DC assured them that issues that can be resolved at the district level would be addressed by convening meetings with departmental officials concerned, and taking appropriate action. Matters requiring intervention at the state level would be forwarded with necessary proposals. She emphasised that obtaining a FRUITS ID has now become mandatory for farmers, as it is linked to the distribution of fertilizers, seeds, crop compensation, and other government benefits.
