Delhi Covid lockdown news live: National capital reports 20,394 new cases, 407 deaths

The daily toll of Covid-19 in Delhi breached the 400-mark on Saturday with 412 more people succumbing to the disease in the last 24 hours. This is the highest number of deaths recorded in the city till date. Earlier, on April 29, Delhi had recorded 395 deaths due to the viral illness. The total number of deaths due to Covid-19 in the national capital has reached 16,559, which is the second-highest in the country after Maharashtra, where 69,615 people have succumbed to the disease since the beginning of the pandemic. From April 1 to May 1, Delhi has recorded 6,262 deaths, averaging 202 fatalities daily. In March, the average death reported daily was around four. Stay with TOI for all updates

Delhi Police serving people in distress during Covid crisis

Amid a rapid surge in Covid-19 cases across the country, the Delhi Police is going an extra mile to help citizens in distress. The police are leaving no stone unturned to assist the citizens at the time of crisis. "On Friday, the police station in Dwarka Sector 23 in Delhi received a call regarding the death of a COVID patient in his house. The condition of his family was also serious who were home isolated," the police said. "The deceased person was identified as SP Khare (69), a resident of Sector 22 in Dwarka. The Delhi Police arranged an ambulance to shift the dead body to RTR Hospital under COVID protocols," it said.
