RUDRAPUR
: A 57-year-old labourer was allegedly assaulted over a wage dispute in Rudrapur, in Udham Singh Nagar district, leaving him severely injured, including a ruptured eardrum.
Ganesh Mandal had gone to contractor Bharat Adhikari to demand pending wages of Rs 2,000 owed to his son, a painter. According to the complaint, Adhikari’s son allegedly pushed him out of the house, after which he, along with his father and brother, thrashed Mandal.
Mandal was first taken to the district hospital and later referred to a hospital in Haldwani for further treatment. His wife, Aarti, filed a complaint with the police, following which an FIR was registered.
SHO (City) Manoj Raturi said, “A case has been registered under BNS sections 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt) against the three accused. Further action will be taken based on the findings.”
