Farmer dies while trying to put out fire in wheat field
Rudrapur: A 45-year-old farmer died after he was caught in a fire while trying to extinguish flames in dry wheat stubble in his field in Sejni village of Sitarganj, Udham Singh Nagar, on Monday evening.Gurbaz Singh, son of Jeet Singh, suffered severe burn injuries after he got trapped in the fire. He was taken to a sub-district hospital, where doctors declared him dead.Circle Officer Bahadur Singh Chauhan said, “The exact cause of the fire is yet to be known. A preliminary inquiry is underway.”Singh is survived by his wife and two sons, both working abroad - one in Malaysia and the other in UAE. They are expected to return soon.The administration has urged farmers to be careful during the summer months. “Fires in dry crop residue can turn fatal within minutes. Farmers must take all precautions to prevent such incidents,” Chauhan said.
