AIADMK slams TVK for ‘horse-trading’, demands CBI probe

Chennai: AIADMK on Thursday alleged that TVK was engaged in “horse trading”, saying that “large sums of money changed hands” to facilitate the recent defection of four of its MLAs. The party asserted that chief minister C Joseph Vijay’s attempts to weaken AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami and hijack M G Ramachandran’s legacy would fail.AIADMK leader P Dhanapal demanded an independent probe by central agencies into the sudden resignations. “We want the CBI and income tax department to launch a detailed probe into the sequence of political developments that led to our MLAs resigning and joining TVK. A central probe is imperative to unearth the financial undercurrents driving these defections,” he said.Echoing the sentiment, I S Inbadurai took to X to criticise Vijay for “poaching” opposition members. “The current political clash in Tamil Nadu is a showdown between MGR’s legacy and Vijay’s legacy. CM is trying to weaken EPS by luring our MLAs. But in the end, MGR’s legacy will triumph,” Inbadurai said.
