Over 850 of CH01-DE numbers up for grabs; bidding closes Monday

The three day online bidding started on Saturday, after completion of the seven-day registration process.The Registering and Licensing Authority (RLA) of the Chandigarh Transport Department has received over a thousand applications for the ongoing online bidding. In a bid to grab numbers of their choice, many applicants have applied for two, three or more registration numbers.As per RLA records, CH01-DE-1001 registration number has a maximum of 37 bidders. Besides, 26 bidders have shown interest in the CH-01DE-0003 and CH-01DE-7777 registration numbers. CH-01-DE-0005 and CH-01-DE-1000 have 25 bidders.“Though around 950 people showed interest in the bidding and filled the papers while registering themselves for the auction, till Saturday, the authority received demand drafts (DD) of around 850 applicants, which is a mark of confirmation. The remaining interested bidders who registered with the authority can deposit the DD till Monday evening, but before the end of the online auction,” sources in the RLA told TOI.There is widespread fascination for registration numbers of the new series. There are 275 registered fancy numbers, which can be auctioned only through bidding. Besides these 275 fancy registration numbers, many people are bidding for over 575 registration numbers of the new vehicle series. They are ready to pay hefty amounts for registration numbers of their choice, which do not fall in the category of fancy registration numbers.E-auction of fancy registration numbers is one of the key sources of revenue for the Chandigarh administration, due to which the RLA puts optimum focus on the auctions. The authority has earned a good amount in the past through the auctions.Box: Reserve price of new seriesAs per records of the RLA, maximum and minimum reserve prices of the new CH01-DE series range between Rs 5,000 and Rs 50,000. The series will be opened to the general public after completion of the auction.
