Shimla: The meteorological department has forecast light rain or snowfall at isolated places in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh from June 7 to 12, while light rain is expected at isolated locations across the state between June 10 and 12.
The weather department has also issued a yellow alert for June 11 and 12, warning of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 30-40 km per hour at isolated places. Light rainfall was recorded in parts of the state on Friday and Saturday.
Pandoh received the highest rainfall of 12.4 mm, while Kufri, Fagu, Chamba and Keylong recorded 2 mm of rain each.
At 5.9℃, Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti district recorded the state's lowest minimum temperature on Saturday, while Una was the hottest place with a maximum of 39℃.
According to the weather department, minimum temperatures may increase by 2-5℃, while the maximum temperatures are likely to rise by 3-8℃ in many areas across the hill state over the next four or five days.
The southwest monsoon has advanced further into several parts of the country, including Goa, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and parts of the Bay of Bengal. It has also covered Mizoram and Manipur.
The meteorological department said conditions remained favourable for the monsoon to advance further into additional parts of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, the Bay of Bengal region and the north-eastern states over the next two or three days.
