FIR against govt employee in Sonipat for missing SIR meetings
Sonipat: A municipal corporation clerk deputed as a booth-level officer (BLO) for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of electoral rolls is facing legal action for allegedly neglecting election duties and remaining absent from review meetings.Additional deputy commissioner and electoral registration officer (ERO) for the Sonipat assembly constituency, Subhash Chandra, has directed the registration of an FIR against Satish, a clerk with the Sonipat Municipal Corporation who was assigned duties at Booth No. 118.According to the district administration, Satish repeatedly failed to carry out voter-list revision work and remained absent from official review meetings despite notices and reminders. Officials said he also failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for his conduct.The ADC said election-related assignments are constitutional responsibilities and any negligence or non-compliance with Election Commission directions would be treated seriously.The administration has sought registration of a case against the employee under Section 32 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, along with relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A communication seeking legal action has been sent to the Sonipat commissioner of police.
