Counting rehearsal on May 28; vote counting to begin at 8 AM on May 29
Mohali: Mohali deputy commissioner-cum-district election officer Komal Mittal has said that eight counting centres had been established for counting of votes cast during the local bodies elections held on May 26 for municipal corporation Mohali and the municipal councils of Zirakpur, Derabassi, Lalru, Banur, Nayagaon and Kurali.
Providing details of the arrangements, she said the counting process would be conducted under CCTV surveillance and fool-proof security arrangements. Only authorised persons would be permitted entry into the counting centres to ensure transparency and accountability during the counting process.
The DC further stated that a rehearsal regarding the counting arrangements would be conducted at all designated venues on May 28 at 10am and the counting of votes would commence at 8am on May 29.
She added that all returning officers had been directed to strictly follow the instructions issued by the state election commission, Punjab, to ensure a transparent and fair counting process.
The district police has also been directed to maintain strict law and order during the counting process and ensure that no unauthorized person was allowed near the counting centers.
She appealed to all candidates to appoint their counting agents with proper identification documents after coordinating with their respective returning officers.
