Rohtak:
Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday announced an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh each for the families of the three persons killed in the fire that engulfed shops at D-Park market in Rohtak on Tuesday.
The chief minister also directed that all injured persons be provided free treatment at govt hospitals.
Saini asked the Rohtak deputy commissioner to assess the losses suffered by shopkeepers and property owners and submit a detailed report. He assured all assistance to affected families.
Deputy commissioner Sachin Gupta has ordered a magisterial inquiry, appointing additional deputy commissioner Narender Kumar as the inquiry officer. Kumar has been asked to submit a report within 15 days.
The deceased included Rohit (19), operator of Home Town Shoes, and Aman Yadav (38) and Kapil Kumar (50), both employees of Rohtak Shoes.
Officials said the bodies were found in the debris around seven hours after the blaze broke out. Their last rites were performed on Wednesday.
The fire erupted on Tuesday afternoon and spread rapidly through several shops in the market. While some traders alleged that an air-conditioner compressor explosion may have triggered the blaze, the exact cause is yet to be ascertained.
