12-year-old boy dies in 'accidental' gunshot at home in Bhopal
BHOPAL: A 12-year-old schoolboy died after being shot in the head on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday in the Gautam Nagar police station area. The child was rushed to hospital but was declared dead on Saturday morning, police said. Police said that an illegal pistol, allegedly belonging to a relative, was found at the family's home during cleaning on Friday. Cops suspect the boy may have accidentally fired the weapon while playing, though they have not ruled out any other possibility.

The bullet pierced the boy's head and struck a wall. The FSL team examined the crime scene to determine whether the gun discharged accidentally or if there was any foul play. The boy’s father said he received a call from his wife informing him that their son had been injured by a gunshot. He rushed home and took the child to hospital, where he later died during treatment. The family lives in the Chhola Road area. The deceased, Ibrahim, was a Class III student and lived with his parents and two siblings. Police said the relative who allegedly left the handgun at the house will be questioned as the investigation continues.
