Agra: An additional district and sessions court in Firozabad sentenced a couple to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on each for murdering a man who was allegedly in a relationship with the wife, additional district govt counsel Arbesh Kumar said on Wednesday.
The case dates back to 2023, when Krishna Murari alias Darshan Singh, 45, a truck driver from Kunjpur Haveli village under Araon police station area, found that his wife, Sarita Yadav, 40, was in a relationship with Ramvilas alias Pappu, 35, a daily wager from Mainpuri district. Ramvilas had allegedly recorded objectionable photos and videos of Sarita, following which Krishna conspired to kill him.
On Nov 5, 2023, Krishna called Ramvilas to their house through Sarita on the pretext of returning money he owed him. Police said the couple overpowered Ramvilas, tied his hands and legs, attacked him with a hoe and strangled him. The couple then dumped the body in a well in Nagla Lekhraj village. It was recovered three days later. “The hoe, rope and a blood-stained brick were recovered from the couple’s house. Forensic examination confirmed the presence of human blood on the recovered items,” Kumar said.
A case was registered under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 201 (destruction of evidence). The couple was sent to jail and a chargesheet was filed a few weeks later. “Based on witness testimonies and forensic evidence, the court of additional district and sessions judge Mumtaz Ali convicted the accused on Tuesday and sent them to jail,” the ADGC said.
