US-Israel-Iran War News Highlights: Israel strikes Lebanese army patrol; Qatar, Saudi Arabia condemns attack

US President Donald Trump on Thursday made a series of strong remarks about Iran, claiming that the country's military capabilities had been severely degraded.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said Iran no longer had an effective navy or air force and asserted that its leadership structure had been “wiped out.”He also criticised media coverage of the conflict, accusing what he called the “fake news” of portraying Iran as performing well despite the damage it had suffered.

The comments come amid continued tensions between the United States and Iran following recent confrontations in the region.

Tensions across the Middle East escalated after the United States and Israel carried out broad strikes on Iran on February 28, an operation that targeted senior Iranian leadership. Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was reported killed in the attack, according to US and Israeli accounts.

Iran responded with missile and drone strikes against Israel and against targets linked to US allies in the Gulf, widening the regional confrontation. The retaliation included attacks aimed at US bases and regional partners, deepening fears of a broader conflict across the Middle East.

Iran fires warning shots near Strait of Hormuz amid tensions in Gulf
Iran fired several warning shots near the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, according to the country's semiofficial Mehr news agency.

Mehr reported that the firing may have been linked to the repositioning of US naval vessels operating in the area. The reported target was located at sea beyond Larak Island, a small island off the coast of Bandar Abbas, Iran's key port city overlooking the strategic waterway.

The development came shortly after a US official said Iran had launched multiple drones toward the Strait of Hormuz, further escalating tensions in the region.

Mehr also dismissed social media reports claiming attacks had taken place in Bandar Abbas, describing them as unfounded.

'I'm moving very fast': Trump on Iran war nearing 100-day mark
US President Donald Trump said Friday that he was “moving very fast” on the Iran conflict, even as the war entered its third month and approached the 100-day mark since US and Israeli strikes began.

Speaking in an interview with NBC News, Trump defended the pace of developments, comparing the conflict with longer wars. “I’m moving very fast. I’m into three months, you know. Vietnam lasted 19 years. I’m into my third month,” he said.

Despite the passage of nearly 100 days, no tentative agreement has been reached with Iran. The comments came as Tehran launched drones toward the Strait of Hormuz, raising fresh doubts about prospects for a diplomatic breakthrough.

Trump said reaching a deal remained difficult, arguing that Iran had long operated with significant independence while dealing with what he described as weak US leadership in the past.

Israel Iran war: US sanctions network accused of disguising Iranian LPG as Omani fuel
The United States imposed sanctions on a network of individuals, companies and vessels accused of shipping Iranian liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to Asian markets while falsely presenting it as fuel originating from Oman. The move is part of Washington's ongoing “Economic Fury” campaign aimed at increasing pressure on Tehran.

According to the US Treasury Department, the network relied on front companies based in the United Arab Emirates and China, overseas bank accounts and Iran's so-called shadow fleet to transport millions of barrels of Iranian LPG while obscuring its origin and bypassing existing sanctions.

Announcing the measures, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the administration would continue to target Iran's shadow shipping and banking networks, as well as its access to international trade, adding that Iran's economy and military capabilities had been significantly weakened.
