He added that Bengal’s Chief Minister must be “born, educated, and rooted in Bengal,” rejecting allegations of an outsider being imposed. On development and governance, Shah questioned the state’s allocation of funds, contrasting North Bengal development spending with madrassa allocations, and said justice and development for regions like North Bengal and the Gorkha community would be ensured under BJP rule. The remarks have intensified political tensions ahead of the West Bengal elections 2026.
