Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has sent a strong diplomatic signal ahead of the upcoming G20 summit, hinting at a possible opening for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s participation. Speaking at an EU leaders’ gathering in Nicosia, Meloni said the focus should now shift to Russia taking concrete steps forward, noting that Western nations, including the United States, have already made several diplomatic overtures. She stressed the need for reciprocal action from Moscow, while stopping short of confirming Putin’s attendance. Meanwhile, Donald Trump described Putin’s potential presence at the G20 as “very helpful,” while the Kremlin said no final decision has been made regarding participation.
