Gurgaon, now known as Gurugram, is situated in the NCR region of Delhi. The city is merely 10 kms from the International Airport of Delhi and is surrounded by Delhi and Rajasthan. Since past two decades, the city has witnessed rapid development and construction. The district is one of Delhi's four major satellite cities and is within commuting distance of Delhi via an expressway and Delhi Metro.

It is the second largest city in the Indian State of Haryana and is the industrial and financial centre of Haryana. It is also the only Indian city to have successfully distributed electricity connections to all its households and is also the IT hub and centre of various BPO companies.
