New Zealand vs England Highlights, 3rd ODI: New Zealand beat England by 2 wickets in a thriller

Jacob Duffy to Ben Duckett, OUT! CAUGHT! A brilliantly judged catch from Rachin Ravindra and England just keep losing wickets at a haemorrhaging rate. Jacob Duffy hits the hard length and slants the ball just across the left-hander. Ben Duckett stays back in the crease and looks for the pinch hit over mid on but gets it really high on the bat. The ball does go over mid on but Rachin runs back over his shoulder and takes a solid catch to his left. Duffy gets his first wicket and England are now 3 down inside the first 5 overs.

Zakary Foulkes to Joe Root, OUT! LBW! A huge appeal for LBW and it is given! That looked pretty plumb and after a long chat with his partner, Joe Root makes the long walk back to the pavilion. Zakary Foulkes goes a bit wider on the crease and angles the ball in from around off. Root takes a step to the off side but the ball gets low and beats the inside edge to ping him on the pads. Root doesn't review and Foulkes picks up his second wicket in his second over. England are now 15/2!

Foulkes hits the hard length and bowls it around the sixth stump line. Jamie Smith stands tall and throws his hands at it, looking to go through the off side but misses. There is half an appeal to begin with but the keeper and Daryl Mitchell at first slip seem confident. The on-field umpire turns it down but the review is taken. UltraEdge confirms that there is a faint nick and Smith has to walk back.

Zakary Foulkes to Jamie Smith, Oh, that's done way too much! Good-length delivery outside off, this one pitches and nips back in a mile. Jamie Smith plays a loose drive on the up and gets beaten through the gate as the ball just misses the top of the stumps as well.

Zakary Foulkes to Jamie Smith, Fractionally short again but this one darts back into the batter. Smith looks to pull but gets hurried and gets hit on the body.

Zakary Foulkes to Jamie Smith, FOUR! Too short and Jamie Smith isn't going to miss out there. Banged in over middle, Smith stays upright and swings it away baseball-style over mid-wicket and picks up the first boundary of the game.

PITCH REPORT - Frances Mackay is pitchside. She informs that the square boundaries measure 61 and 56 metres, while it stretches to 84 metres down the ground. Grant Elliott joins her, and he shares that the pitch has been under bad weather for a few days, and the surface still feels soft in patches, though it’s rock hard underneath. Mentions that there is a fair bit of grass covering, which should offer some seam movement early on. Believes that the pitch might play a little on the slower side. Informs that the average first-innings score here is around 270, with 296 being the average winning total, something England will certainly have their eye on.

English all-rounder, Jamie Overton is down for a chat. He says that he hasn't been able to contribute with the bat much in the past, but hopes that they can finish with a win. Reckons that they are a positive team but sometimes it is absorbing pressure and a few things haven't gone their way so far. Adds that they aren't out of form, it is just that they haven't managed to go on and get the big total.

Daryl Mitchell is up for a chat. Mentions that it is nice to win games for New Zealand. Says that it does a little bit in New Zealand in October, so it is about adapting. Shares that he loves playing for the country, and the personal matters do not matter much to him. Further says that England are a world-class team and credits his bowlers for the way they have contained them. Regarding the surface, he feels that it might do a bit early doors since it is early summer and there might be a bit of tennis ball kind of bounce. Reckons that it will be about navigating through that early phase and then making hay.

England's captain, Harry Brook cheekily says that he would like to win a toss in the near future. Mentions that they will look to go out there and play with freedom. Adds that it is all about being present with the bat and putting the pressure on the bowlers. Informs that they are unchanged for this game.

The captain of New Zealand, Mitchell Santner believes that this is a good wicket, but it feels a bit soft and has a good grass covering. Informs that they have one change with Kane Williamson missing out due to a groin niggle and Devon Conway replacing him. Adds that they have the same composition as the last game, with four seamers and two spinners. Shares that it is a good place to be with guys coming in and stepping up straight away.
