Glenn Maxwell, the captain of Washington Freedom wins the PLAYER OF THE MATCH AWARD. He says his finger is okay. Tells he gave himself some time to recover. Shares he kept the seam position simple to make things happen off the surface and just tried to help his teammates with the ball. Mentions they do their homework, they prepare a lot behind the scenes and when the match-up doesn't work, they adapt quickly to the different conditions. Ends by saying that different players have stepped up at different times.
...Presentation...
Sikandar Raza, the captain of Seattle Orcas says one of them had to play alongside Heinrich Klaasen to take the score around 140, which wouldn't have been enough but could have been competitive. Tells the surface has been tacky under the lights and most teams have lost batting first, they wanted to play aggressive but it didn't came out tonight.
Seattle Orcas came into this game with three games in a row, but relied particularly on a single player (Shimron Hetmyer, who helped them win the last three games). Today, it was a total batting failure. With MINY looming behind them, pushing for a later surge for the fourth finish, Seattle Orcas will feel a lot of pressure after this game. Not just looking at the points table but in the manner they lost today.
Washington Freedom got everything right today. They ripped apart Seattle Orcas inside the Powerplay after choosing to bowl first. Washington Freedom scalped five wickets inside the Powerplay and rocked Seattle Orcas into a lot of thinking. Seattle Orcas still had the man in form, Shimron Hetmyer out there along with Heinrich Klaasen. However, once Shimron Hetmyer fell, it was a procession. Heinrich Klaasen did his best to score runs but he too ran out of gas eventually. Credit to Washington Freedom's bowlers. Saurabh Netravalkar and Glenn Maxwell set the tone up front and the rest followed the process.
Well, the win was always on the cards. It was a matter of when rather than if. Not just the way Washington Freedom won but with this big margin, they have done a world of good to their net run rate, which could come in handy for the top position in the points table.

Glenn Maxwell is a happy man right now and why wouldn't he be? His team has delivered an exceptional performance. Actually, it was the skipper himself who started Orcas' downfall. Glenn Maxwell struck thrice inside the Powerplay and got rid of some big names. Saurabh Netravalkar bowled a perfect spell as well to take two wickets initially. Heinrich Klaasen saw everything from one end and hoped for the man in form, Shimron Hetmyer to build a partnership but he too fell and after that it was just a procession.
