Karnataka vs Jammu & Kashmir Live Score, Ranji Trophy Final: Shubham Pundir slams ton to lead Jammu and Kashmir's run charge against Karnataka

Karnataka vs Jammu & Kashmir Live Score, Ranji Trophy Final: Jammu and Kashmir stand on the brink of history as they prepare for their maiden Ranji Trophy final, but their dream run faces its toughest challenge against seasoned giants Karnataka. The underdog side’s journey has been defined by grit and determination, yet overcoming a team of Karnataka’s calibre will require a near-perfect performance.

Karnataka’s dominance this season has been comprehensive. Despite a slow start against Saurashtra, they quickly established themselves as the team to beat, brushing aside strong sides like Mumbai and Uttarakhand with authority. Their formidable batting lineup has been the cornerstone of their success, with KL Rahul, Karun Nair, Devdutt Padikkal and Ravichandran Smaran delivering heavily. Padikkal has also excelled as captain after taking over from Mayank Agarwal, ensuring the team maintained its momentum.

Their strength, however, extends beyond batting. The bowling unit, led by India pacer Prasidh Krishna, has consistently delivered, while all-rounder Shreyas Gopal has been invaluable with both bat and ball. His ability to influence matches in crucial moments has made Karnataka an even more complete side.

Jammu and Kashmir, meanwhile, have relied on their disciplined bowling, spearheaded by Auqib Nabi, whose 55 wickets have powered their historic run. Their victories over Bengal and Madhya Pradesh underline their ability to compete under pressure. Veteran captain Paras Dogra and coach Ajay Sharma will play key roles in keeping the team focused on the big occasion.

However, injury concerns to key players like Shubham Khajuria and Vanshraj Sharma could pose challenges. While Karnataka’s experience and depth give them a clear edge, Jammu and Kashmir will hope their fearless approach can help them script one of the greatest upsets in Ranji Trophy history.

We are back for the final session on Day 1. Paras Dogra had a shaky start but Shubham Pundir has been middling his shots well. Shreyas Gopal to start after the Tea break. Here we go...

14:56 (IST) Feb 24

... DAY 1, SESSION 3 ...

14:56 (IST) Feb 24

The final push on Day 1 - With a deep batting order still to come, J&K will head into the final session feeling they have the upper hand. The objective for the evening will be to capitalize on a tired Karnataka bowling unit that has spent the majority of the day in the field. Given the excellent batting conditions, J&K’s set batters will likely look to shift gears and accelerate, aiming to put up a massive first-innings total and dictate terms for the remainder of the Final.

14:53 (IST) Feb 24

Krishna provides the lone spark - Despite the overall dominance of the J&K batters, Karnataka’s Prasidh Krishna remained a persistent threat. He has consistently looked like the most lethal weapon in the bowling arsenal, providing the only breakthrough of the session. While the seamers have toiled and the spinners have struggled to find their rhythm, often been dispatched for runs. Yawer Hassan, who played a magnificent and fluent hand of 88, fell just short of a well-deserved century when he finally perished to Krishna’s probing line. Following Yawer’s departure, the experienced Paras Dogra joined Shubham Pundir in the middle to ensure there was no collapse. The duo has played with extreme caution, adding 21 runs in the 10 overs leading up to the break. Their patient approach has frustrated the Karnataka fielding side, taking the sting out of the ball and ensuring J&K reached Tea with their advantage firmly intact.

14:50 (IST) Feb 24

Dominance continued in the afternoon - The post-Lunch session began with Jammu & Kashmir comfortably placed at 104 for 1, and the subsequent couple of hours have only served to solidify their command over the Ranji Trophy Final. Building on the momentum of a stellar season, J&K’s batting lineup has displayed remarkable composure, effectively putting themselves in the driver’s seat early in this ultimate clash as the scorecard reads 178 for 2 at Tea. The Karnataka bowlers have found it difficult to break through the defensive discipline shown by the visitors on a surface that seems to be favoring the willow.

14:43 (IST) Feb 24

TEA ON DAY 1 - Overall 27 overs were bowled in this session where the batters of Karnataka scored 74 runs and lost 1 wicket.

Karnataka vs Jammu & Kashmir Live Score, Ranji Trophy Final: Jammu and Kashmir’s fairytale journey to their first-ever Ranji Trophy final has been one of the most inspiring stories of the domestic season, but their ultimate test now comes against eight-time champions Karnataka. The underdogs will need something extraordinary over the next five days to deny a side that has been the most consistent team this season.

Karnataka enter the final as deserved favourites, having overcome early setbacks and injury challenges to dominate opponents both at home and away. After dropping points against Saurashtra, they bounced back strongly, registering commanding wins over traditional powerhouse Mumbai and newcomers Uttarakhand. Their success has been built largely on the exceptional form of their batting core, with KL Rahul, Karun Nair, Devdutt Padikkal and Ravichandran Smaran all producing prolific numbers. Padikkal has also impressed in his role as captain, guiding the side with composure.

However, Jammu and Kashmir possess a potent bowling attack led by pacer Auqib Nabi, whose 55 wickets have been central to their remarkable run. They have already stunned strong teams like Bengal and Madhya Pradesh to reach the final. Karnataka’s bowling, too, remains formidable, with Prasidh Krishna and all-rounder Shreyas Gopal providing balance and match-winning ability.

While Karnataka’s experience and depth make them favourites, Jammu and Kashmir will rely on belief, discipline and leadership from Paras Dogra to script what would be a historic upset.
