First session of the opening Test belonged to India, with openers putting up a solid partnership for the visitors. Mayank Agarwal (46*) and KL Rahul (29*) took the score to 83 for no loss in 28 overs. The duo started watchfully before setting themselves in and scored runs at a decent rate of 2.96 runs per over. They scored 11 boundaries in the first session. And the only real opportunity for South Africa to take a wicket was the drop chance by wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock of Mayank Agarwal (on 36). Other than that it was all India in the first two hours of the Boxing Day Test in Centurion.
