Ratan Tata News Live: Ratan Tata, the former chairman of Tata Group who transformed the company into India’s largest and most influential conglomerate, passed away at the age of 86. He breathed his last at Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai at 11.30pm on Wednesday, after being in intensive care since Monday.

His final rites were performed at Worli crematorium.

Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS) is set to declare its financial results today, with analysts expecting Q2 earnings growth to be in the low single digit. Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday condoled the death of veteran industrialist Ratan Tata, saying his contribution is an inspiration for generations of entrepreneurs and industrialists. Tata passed away at the age of 86 in a Mumbai hospital on Wednesday night.

In a post on his X handle, Sawant wrote "Saddened to learn about the demise of Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons Shri Ratan Tata."

"#RataTata inherited a great legacy and led the largest business conglomerate in India. His leadership truly transformed the conglomerate, taking it to the world level," he said.

"The bold decisions to acquire Jaguar-Land Rover, Large Steel companies in Europe among others announced the arrival of India at the Global Business scenario," Sawant said.

After stepping down as chairman in 2012, Tata retained the honorary title of chairman emeritus for several Tata companies, including Tata Sons, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, and Tata Chemicals.
