Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will go to Mulayam Singh Yadav's ancestral village Saifai on Wednesday to pay tributes to the socialist stalwart who died on Monday. Janata Dal (United) spokesperson K C Tyagi said a party delegation, which will include Lok Sabha MP Dulal Chandra Goswami and himself, will be in Saifai on Tuesday when he will be cremated.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday condoled the demise of Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav. "The former CM of Uttar Pradesh, former Union minister and Samajwadi Party's former chief Mulayam Singh Yadav has passed away. He played a major role in the progress and development of Uttar Pradesh. My condolences to his bereaved family and prayers to God," said Shinde.

The last rites of the SP supremo will be performed in Saifai on Tuesday around 3pm.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said Yadav's unparalleled contribution to Indian politics as defence minister and chief minister of Uttar Pradesh will always be remembered. "My deepest condolences to Akhilesh Yadav and all other loved ones," she said in a tweet in Hindi.

The Congress on Monday condoled Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav's demise, and said his passing away was an irreparable loss to Indian politics.

The mortal remains of SP founder Mulayam will be flown from Delhi to Lucknow where it will be kept at the party office. It will then be flown to Saifai for the last rites.
