Delhi falls well short of 2015 record
The Election Commission announced that the final voter turnout was 62.59 per cent, five per cent less than 2015. In the 2015 assembly polls, Delhi had registered a record voter turnout of 67.47 per cent.

Counting to begin at 8am, trends expected after 11am
Counting for the 70 assembly seats in Delhi will begin at 8am on Tuesday and trends will start pouring in around 11am. The counting of votes will start with postal ballots. Drama over turnout figures
A day after assembly elections in the capital - and exit polls predicting a big victory for it - the Aam Aadmi Party alleged a conspiracy over the "delay" in the Election Commission's announcement of the final voter turnout figures. The poll body rubbished the charge, saying the data was released 24 hours after conclusion of polling, which was neither uncommon nor a delay. Read full story

What did the exit polls say?
The Exit polls predicted an easy win for the AAP, with most of them giving the party over 50 seats in the 70-member assembly. The BJP emerged as a distant second, with none of the polls predicting more than 26 seats for the saffron party. The polls also forecast another wipeout for Congress.

Tight security ahead of counting
Tight security arrangements are in place at various centres across the national capital where the counting of votes will take place. The counting centres are located at CWG Sports Complex in East Delhi, NSIT Dwarka in West Delhi, Meerabai Institute of Technology and G B Pant Institute of Technology in Southeast Delhi, Sir CV Raman ITI, Dheerpur in Central Delhi, and Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Bawana in North Delhi, among other places.

The AAP tried to woo the electorate with its development agenda and promised to provide an honest pro-poor government while the BJP ran an aggressive campaign centred around the issues of anti-CAA protests and nationalism.
