Agnipath Scheme Protest: Student bodies call for bandh in Bihar, RJD extends support
Protests against the Centre's Agnipath recruitment scheme continued in several parts of the country for the third day on Friday. The protests, which started in Bihar, has now spread to Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh. Stay with TOI for the latest developments

Agnipath scheme will give 'new dimension' to youth: Yogi Adityanath
"Agneepath Yojana' will give a new dimension to your life as well as give a golden base to the future. Don't be deceived. Our 'Agniveer', determined to serve Mother Bharati, will be an invaluable fund of the nation and @UPGovt will give preference to Agniveers in police and other services, " tweeted Adityanath in Hindi.

Hundreds of agitators blocked National Highway 83 in Jehanabad and burned tyres demanding the scrapping of the scheme. Angry protestors took out processions in the three districts and other parts of Bihar.

Protestors blocked the movement of trains on Patna-Gaya and Patna-Buxar routes by lying down on the railway tracks in Jehanabad and Buxar districts.

Protests against the Centre's 'Agnipath' scheme for hiring jawans on a short-term contractual basis continued across Bihar for the second consecutive day on Thursday as aspirants preparing for jobs in defence forces disrupted railway and road traffic in Jehanabad, Buxar and Nawada districts.
