A mosque identified as Japan Jaame Masjid Ramzan was allegedly constructed on privately owned land in Kawagoe, Saitama Prefecture, without obtaining the approvals required under Japan’s City Planning Act. The site lies in an urbanization control zone where development is strictly regulated. Kawagoe city authorities have instructed the landowner, a company reportedly linked to a Pakistani national, to remove the structure and comply with local regulations. Officials said repeated attempts were made to halt construction, but work continued. The company’s representatives have reportedly told authorities they are discussing demolition, citing costs as a challenge. Following the controversy, the Embassy of Pakistan in Japan distanced itself from the project and urged Pakistani residents to strictly follow Japanese laws, stressing that it has no connection to any construction undertaken without proper permits.
