‘No better day than this’: Army pilot proposes to girlfriend right after passing-out parade, proposal goes viral
Army pilot proposes to girlfriend after passing-out parade: ‘Wanted to make this day memorable for my fiancée too’For Captain Bharat Bhardwaj, graduating as an Army pilot wasn't the only life-changing moment of the day.Just after completing the passing-out parade at the Combat Army Aviation Training School (CAATS) in Nashik on Tuesday, the Indian Army Aviation officer pulled off a surprise that nobody saw coming. In front of family, fellow officers and guests, he proposed to his girlfriend, Arushi. The moment was straight out of a movie scene.Dressed in his ceremonial uniform, Bharat walked onto the tarmac, got down on one knee and held out a ring. Parked nearby was an Army helicopter, making the backdrop even more dramatic. A visibly surprised Arushi said yes, and the crowd around them immediately burst into applause. The proposal was captured on video and quickly found its way across social media, where thousands of people watched and reacted to the unexpected moment.

The clip, shared by ANI on X, showed what started as a proud military ceremony ending with a personal milestone for the young officer.
Speaking to ANI, Captain Bhardwaj said the decision felt natural because the day already meant so much to him and his family."We have all become pilots and instructors today. It was a big day for all of us. Our hard work yielded fruit today," he said. For Bharat, there was another reason the occasion felt right. He and Arushi have been together for five years, and he wanted her to be part of a moment he would remember forever."We've known each other for the past five years. I don't think there is any better day than this to propose marriage to her. This is a big day for my family too. I wanted to make this day memorable for my fiancée too," he added.
Online, the reactions came pouring in.Many people loved the gesture and called it a perfect way to celebrate two milestones at once."Classy way to celebrate a milestone. Respect," one user wrote.Another joked, "Bro celebrated two happiness at once."Others said the proposal added an emotional touch to an already memorable day and wished the couple a happy future together. But not everyone agreed. Some social media users felt the proposal was out of place at a military event. They argued that a passing-out parade is a formal occasion meant to honour discipline, service and achievement, and should remain focused on that purpose. One commenter said such public proposals could take attention away from the significance of the uniform. Another felt personal celebrations should be kept separate from official military ceremonies. The debate continued online, but most viewers seemed focused on the joy of the moment itself. After years of training, hard work and commitment, Captain Bharat Bhardwaj walked away from the parade ground with more than a new qualification. He left as a newly minted Army pilot — and a man with a fiancée.Not a bad day by any measure.
