Legendary filmmaker Bharathiraja passed away in Chennai at the age of 84. Bharathiraja was celebrated for bringing rural stories, realistic characters and powerful emotions to the big screen.

Mohanlal remembers working with the legend

Mohanlal shared screen space with Bharathiraja in the Malayalam blockbuster 'Thudarum'.In the film, Bharathiraja played Stunt Master Palani Swamy, the mentor of Mohanlal's character, 'Benz' Shanmugham.Remembering the veteran filmmaker, Mohanlal wrote, "A director who found poetry in the soil, truth in silence, and soul in every frame. Sharing screen space with Bharathiraja Sir in Thudarum was an honour I will cherish forever."He further added, "Rest in peace, Sir. Your legacy will continue to inspire generations and your presence will be deeply missed."Mohanlal's post was filled with messages from admirers. Tharun Moorthy shares emotional moments

Director Tharun Moorthy also remembered Bharathiraja with a touching social media post. The filmmaker shared photographs taken during the making of 'Thudarum'.The pictures featured Bharathiraja alongside members of the film's cast and crew. Tharun accompanied the images with a brief but emotional message."Thank you, Master," he wrote, adding a broken-heart emoji. He also shared another note that read, "Memories Thudarum forever" (memories will continue forever)."

Bharathiraja's role in 'Thudarum'

'Thudarum' follows Shanmugham who is a former stuntman who now leads a modest life as a car service provider.Shanmugham travels to Tamil Nadu to meet his mentor Palani Swamy, portrayed by Bharathiraja. 'Thudarum' marks one of the final acting performances of Bharathiraja.
