By Susmita SameeraThe Love Mocktail franchise has built a strong emotional connection with its audience over the years. The first film ended on a deeply tragic note with Nidhi’s demise, while the second installment explored Adi’s journey through grief, ultimately concluding on a hopeful note as he adopts a baby girl and names her Nidhi. Love Mocktail 3 continues this narrative, focusing on Adi’s life as a single father and his evolving world with his daughter. However, after a considerable gap since the previous film, the question remains: does this third chapter live up to the emotional depth and charm of its predecessors? The film opens with a celebratory baby shower for Viju’s (Abhilash) wife, Sushma, bringing together familiar faces from the earlier installments—Jo (Amrutha Iyengar), Sihi (Rachel David), Jakana (Sushmitha Gowda), and Renu (Swetha). As they await Adi’s arrival, the narrative transitions into a flashback, setting the tone for the story that unfolds. The first half largely revolves around Adi’s new life with his daughter Nidhi (Samvrutha). Their bond is portrayed through simple, heartwarming moments—particularly Nidhi’s fondness for bedtime stories about how Adi met her mother, retold in imaginative variations set across different countries. Their domestic life, supported by their house help Jagga (affectionately called “Jagga Mummy”), is painted as warm and content. Everyday elements such as school incidents, Nidhi’s playful mischief, and her teacher Rajani’s subtle admiration for Adi add to the narrative’s slice-of-life feel. The story takes a dramatic turn at the interval, when an elderly woman, Dr. Shanta (Rekha Kudligi), claims that Nidhi is her granddaughter. This revelation shifts the film into a legal battle over custody, with Dilip Raj and Shwetha Prasad appearing as opposing lawyers, and B.M. Giriraj as the presiding judge. Vaishali Deepak enters the narrative in the latter half, adding another layer to the unfolding drama. While the Love Mocktail series has been celebrated for its simplicity, relatability, and emotional resonance, the third installment doesn’t always recreate the same impact. The first half feels slightly extended in parts, with a few repetitive moments that slow the pace. Although the second half introduces stronger emotional beats, the courtroom drama unfolds in a familiar manner without many standout moments.Despite a heartfelt and satisfying conclusion, the journey leading up to it feels somewhat less engaging. The storytelling, while retaining its warmth, misses some of the emotional depth and narrative sharpness that defined the earlier films, making portions of the film feel familiar rather than fresh.Performance-wise, the cast delivers sincere but understated portrayals. The technical aspects, including music—which was a standout feature in the previous films—offer a few pleasant moments but don’t leave a strong lasting impression. In conclusion, Love Mocktail 3 serves as a closure for fans who have followed Adi’s journey from the beginning. While it offers a gentle and emotional ending to the story, it feels comparatively pale and doesn’t fully match the depth and engagement of the earlier films as a standalone experience.
