Kolkata Police unfollows Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee on X; follows PM Narendra Modi, Amit Shah after BJP win

KOLKATA: Following the BJP's landmark victory in the Bengal assembly elections, the Kolkata Police's official X (formerly Twitter) handle has undergone a symbolic digital shift. The account has reportedly now unfollowed former chief minister Mamata Banerjee, Trinamool national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, among a few others. In a move signalling alignment with the changing political landscape, the handle now follows PM Narendra Modi, home minister Amit Shah and the official accounts of the PMO and MHA. This transition coincides with the withdrawal of additional security from Trinamool Congress headquarters and netas' homes across the city.
