India Post GDS Result 2026 Live Updates: The Department of Posts is set to release the India Post Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Result 2026 shortly, with the first merit list expected in the first week of March 2026. Candidates who applied for the recruitment drive will be able to check their status through a circle-wise PDF on the official portal.

The recruitment process covers 28,636 vacancies for the posts of Gramin Dak Sevak, Branch Postmaster (BPM) and Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM). Selection is based entirely on Class 10 marks, and no written examination has been conducted for the engagement.

Merit list to be issued in PDF format
The result will be published online in PDF form for each of the 23 postal circles. The document will contain details such as division, office name, post, community category, registration number, candidate name, percentage of marks, gender, and document verification (DV) schedule.

Candidates will need to visit the official website, select their respective circle, download the result PDF and search their registration number using the find option. The list will include only those shortlisted for the next stage of the process.

Circle-wise vacancies include Uttar Pradesh (3,169), Maharashtra (3,553), West Bengal (2,963), Madhya Pradesh (2,102), Tamil Nadu (2,009), Gujarat (1,782), Kerala (1,691), Bihar (1,344), Odisha (1,191), Chhattisgarh (1,155), Andhra Pradesh (1,060), Karnataka (1,022), North Eastern (1,019), Jharkhand (908), Rajasthan (634), Assam (639), Telangana (608), Himachal Pradesh (520), Uttarakhand (436), Punjab (261), Jammu and Kashmir (267), Haryana (270) and Delhi (38).

Selection based on Class 10 performance
The merit list is generated automatically based on marks obtained in the Class 10 examination, calculated up to four decimal places. Where candidates secure identical marks, preference is given to the older applicant. If the tie continues, priority is determined by category and gender as per departmental rules.

Based on previous trends, the expected cut-off for the first merit list may range between 85% and 95% for the General category. Other estimated cut-offs are 80%–90% for OBC, 80%–88% for SC, 79%–85% for ST, 75%–83% for EWS and 65%–80% for PwBD candidates. The final cut-off varies depending on vacancies, number of applicants and reservation norms in each circle.

Document verification process after selection
Candidates whose names appear in the merit list must report for document verification at the Divisional Head office mentioned in the PDF. They are required to carry original documents along with self-attested copies, including Class 10 marksheet and certificate, proof of date of birth, category or EWS certificate if applicable, identity proof, photographs and the application printout.

Additional documents such as local language proof, cycling or computer certificates may be required for specific posts. After successful verification, candidates will receive a provisional engagement letter and must complete pre-engagement formalities within 30 days. Final appointment will be issued after clearance of all checks, including medical fitness.

If vacancies remain after the first list, additional merit lists may be released in subsequent rounds.
