Sample question papers for the Class 10 and 12 final exams are now available on the academic portal, cbseacademic.nic.in. Students can utilize these papers to practice, familiarize themselves with the marking scheme, understand the exam pattern, and explore the types of questions that will be included in the test.
The students must note that the 2025 CBSE exam pattern has introduced significant changes in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, focusing more on competency-based learning. This shift emphasizes practical knowledge application over rote memorization. One of the most significant updates is the increased weightage of competency-based questions. These aim to evaluate students' ability to apply theoretical concepts to real-world problems, enhancing their critical thinking and problem-solving skills rather than simply recalling facts. For Class 10, 50% of the questions will be competency-based, similar to previous years. However, for Class 12, the proportion will increase from 40% to 50% in 2025. These questions will appear in various formats, including Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), case-based, and source-based integrated questions. Students should tailor their preparation to focus on concept understanding and problem-solving strategies.
The revised exam format for 2025 also reduces the emphasis on rote learning, encouraging students to gain a deeper understanding of the subjects. Consequently, the number of constructed response questions, such as short and long answer questions, will be slightly reduced in both Class 10 and Class 12 exams.
Practical exams and internal assessments for Class 10 and Class 12 students in winter-bound schools are scheduled to take place from November 5, 2024, to December 5, 2024, as these institutions will be closed in January 2025. Meanwhile, practical examinations for other schools will commence on January 1, 2025.
