Several leading hotels across luxury, mid-scale and budget segments in the region are operating at near-full capacity and the trend continue till the first week of the January-2026.With the increasing inflow of tourists to Vizag city and parts of the ASR district for the New Year Celebrations, the demand for decent accommodation and resorts increased. Vizag’s hospitality industry has recorded one of its strongest December performances in recent years, with hotels across luxury, mid-scale and budget segments operating at high occupancy levels throughout December 2025. MV Pavan Kartheek, President, Hotels and Restaurants Association of Andhra Pradesh (HRAAP), Visakhapatnam, expressed that this exceptional growth in the hospitality sector in Dec 2025 has been driven by a rare convergence of international conferences, national sporting events, large-scale government programmes and peak seasonal tourism, firmly positioning Vizag as a multi-dimensional destination for business, academia, sports and leisure. Hotels, including star and budget hotels in Vizag city are witnessing a high occupancy level, he added.Similarly, the foggy and cool weather conditions in Araku Valley, Lammasingi, Vanjangi, Paderu, Ananthagiri, Chintapalle and few other locations in ASR districts draw many visitors from parts of West Bengal, Odisha and parts of Andhra Pradesh. The festive season boosted leisure travel adding to institutional and sports travel, the Christmas–New Year holiday season has led to a sharp rise in leisure tourists from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha and Chhattisgarh. All rooms in the noted hotels and resorts, including AP Tourism department in the ASR district, booked till January 2. We were surprised to find that some noted resorts were fully occupied, said V Ganesh, an employee with a private firm in Vizag city, who planned a new year celebration with his friends in the Araku region. We have decided to stay in the rented tents in Araku region and will welcome the new year, he added. The tents providing shelter to tourists are trending at Lammasingi, Vanjangi, Araku Valley and few other places in ASR district.
