Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh govt has issued an ammendment order renaming Disha police stations as Mahila police stations. The nomenclature of Disha police stations is changed to Mahila police stations, the order stated.
It may be recalled that the previous YSRCP govt established Disha police stations across the state to ensure speedy justice to victims in cases of sexual harassment, and POCSO offences. The previous govt also passed AP Disha Bill-2019 ensuring timely completion of investigation and trial in cases of sexual offenses against women and children. Home minister Vangalapudi Anitha said that safety of women is the top priority of the current govt.
